Welcome To The Garw Carnival 2010The 2010 Carnival took place as planned .... Well almost !
Also seen en-route were Beauty and the Beast, A Flower garden and the Farmer, his hens and the sly fox. They were accompanied by many singular paraders who all kept everyone in high spirits and in adoration of the work involved in such elaborate costumes and creations. One again this year we welcomed the fire engine and crew from the Pontycymer Fire Service to bring up the tail of the parade. It was clear that the usual venue for the "rural Fair", Parc Calon Lan could not be used this year because of the recent heavy persistent rain so the organizers set to work to organize alternative arrangements for the fair. Despite the enormity of this task other venues were prepared for this and the "Rural Fair" took place at the Blaengarw Workingmen Hall and also The Blaengarw Workingmen Club (top club) with the stalls and events being split between the two new venues. Our heartfelt thanks go out to everyone who was able to help at these two venues at such short notice. Despite the hasty rearrangement the fair was still a great success with everyone who attended making the best of these much smaller venues. The artist still performed and entertained and also the talent competition still went ahead as planned. So with another success behind us we look forward to next years event and one thing is clear for all to see is that there is a lot of work and time put into the costumes and displays seen at an event like today. If you feel that you have the talent, time or both to help with the organizing of this event we would be very happy to hear from you. Shortly we will also have an area on this site that will show the work that goes on in the workshops and everyone can have the opportunity to take an active role in the carnival whether it just be in donating some materials or donating some time for this event that has become the most colourful in the Garw's year. We would like once again to thank everyone involved this year from the organizers, helpers and volunteers, paraders and everyone who took the time to help, donate or just watch the carnival this year, you all know of course that without your participation this event could not take place. And finally we would ask you to continue your support and remember this is your event so take part or just support by attending and tell all your friends and who knows next year maybe, just maybe the sun will put in an appearance but remember above all have a good time !
